An idyllic four bedroom country cottage worth half a million is available to own for just £2.

Located in Shrewsbury in the heart of Shropshire, the owners of the property have decided to raffle off Shrubbery Farm after splitting up and struggling to find a buyer.

Property owners Michael and Linda Chatha are hoping to sell their home via a raffle draw, with tickets to enter priced at a mere £2 each.

The promoters hope to sell 300,000 tickets to include transfer costs, such as stamp duty and legal fees, and to complete any last minute jobs to ensure the house is as perfect as possible for the next owner.

But if 300,000 tickets are not sold, the winner will be offered 90 per cent of the ticket receipts instead. If the raffle takes in more than expected, the Chatha’s will make a donation to Hope House, who support children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

The pair were inspired by a fellow home owner who sold more than £1 million-worth of tickets for their £800,000 valued property.

Entrants can also earn additional tickets by sharing word of the competition online, earning extra free entries every time someone else helps to promote the competition.

After a ticket purchase, entrants are given a customised link and are encouraged to share it to increase their chances of winning.

There is also an extra £5,000 reward up for grabs for the person whose sharing activity results in the most ticket sales - but there’s only a limited number of tickets on offer.

The stunning cottage sits surrounded by rolling hills and boasts a 300 year heritage, with its characterful charm evident throughout, from the exposed beams to the Farmhouse styled kitchen with an AGA.

It also includes a self-contained annex, and is estimated to have doubled in value in 10 years. It was last valued in summer 2019 by two leading estate agents at £545,000 and £520,000 respectively.

The property backs onto a 13th century church and Longnor Hall with its Medieval Deer Park, making it very secluded with virtually no neighbours.

Shrewsbury town sits a mere 15 minutes away, while Church Stretton and Ludlow are just a short drive away.
