True cost of James Bond's recklessness on the road

Film hero James Bond has had so many prangs in flash cars that his insurance would be sky-high in the real world.

Fighting off the bad guys - whether it was Goldfinger, Dr No or Jaws - Bond left a trail of destruction.

But did fans enjoy the number of road traffic collisions?

A car dealership has compared the total damages in today’s prices of five popular Bond films with the rating given on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tally includes the repair or scrap bills that James racked up and that of the villain’s car too.

1962 Dr No

Bond sends pursuers down a cliff in their 1939 Cadillac LaSalle. Bond’s Sunbeam Alpine Series II had its roof decapitated in the process.Car damages: £53,995Fan rating: 82%

1964 Goldfinger

The stunning Aston Martin DB5 was one of the hardest cars for fans to watch Bond destroy.

Two Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca and an Aston Martin DB5 tallied the write-off list.

1995 GoldenEye

Pierce Brosnan earned the title of the most destructive Bond thanks to the whopping 52 crashes that his incarnation of 007 managed to cause during his reign, six more than that of Roger Moore.

GoldenEye back in 1995 was Brosnan’s crème de la crème when it came to recklessness as he negotiated the streets of St Petersburg in a tank which he used as a battering ram.

1987 The Living Daylights

Timothy Dalton’s tenure saw Bond pressing the self-destruct button on his Aston Martin V8 after destroying two vehicles with lasers.
