World class musicians will head to town this summer for another weekend of dance, celebration and song at the Warwick Folk Festival.
Singers, renowned entertainers and musicians will descend on Warwick’ pubs, clubs and town centre in the annual four day celebration of song this July.
And tickets are now on sale as the 2016 line-up already boasts music from more than 100 performers across seven venues for the 37th year.
The festival will centre on performances in the grounds of Warwick School from Thursday July 21 right though to Sunday.
Concerts and events will also head to pubs, theatres and precincts of Warwick’s historic town centre - from back-room music sessions to open air concerts.
Headline performers include The Unthanks on the first day, Thursday. Duo, Show of Hands will take to the stage on Friday evening and Michael McGoldrick and Friends entertain crowds on Saturday.
This year will also see the return of the food and real ale festival, belly dancers, Morris dancing, workshops and talks and family fun circus skills, face painting and comedy.
The popular festival started from humble beginnings in 1979 and now attracts performers and guests from all over the UK and beyond.
Organisers said this year is set to be one of the best yet with tickets now on sale to get interest rolling in the town.
“Warwick’s folk festival of the very best in traditional and contemporary folk arts,” they said.
“In 25 years, the festival has built up a reputation as one of the best in the country for its quality of entertainment and its excellent organisation.
“What started out as a single concert and folk dancing session has grown into a packed programme of events including music and dance workshops, singarounds and music sessions and a range of children’s entertainments.
“Catch their energetic displays around the town centre throughout the weekend, and don’t miss their spectacular mass procession as it winds its way through the town on Saturday – always a Warwick highlight.”
The Smith Street market will return on Saturday July 23 from 9am.
