Coventry & District Samaritans has won the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The announcement was made on Tuesday and the award is the highest given to local volunteer groups across the UK, recognising outstanding work in their communities. The group was established in 1964.
Roger Hughes (above centre), branch director, said: “Over the last 50 years we have answered over 1.5 million calls for help and I am very proud that we still provide all our services entirely with volunteers. This recognises their dedication, professionalism and commitment”.
