Mariehanna Dickson, 30, was visiting the castle on Friday when she snapped a plaque in the Kenilworth bedroom.

When she got home she spotted what appeared to be a spooky shape standing by the window.

Marienhanna, who lives in Henley-in-Arden, said: “I was all alone in the room because it was early and there weren’t many visitors around.

“I am South African and the plaque had some information about a South African spiritualist raising a young girl from the dead in the room.

“When I got home I was reading the plaque on my camera and noticed a strange figure in the reflection of the shot.

“At first I thought it must have been one of the wax work figures in the castle but when I called them they said there are no models in that room.

“I don’t have any idea who the figure may have been.”

Warwick Castle’s historian, Richard Shepard said stories of an old woman moving through the corridors have haunted the castle since the 1800 - giving the Kenilworth bedroom the title of most haunted in the castle.

But that she is rarely seen twice by the same visitors.
