Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a car in Lillington

The incident took place in Walnut Drive in the early hours of Sunday.

The fire occurred at about 2.20am and firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze .

But the vehicle was completely destroyed.

Pc Dennis Quinlan, of North Leamington Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “This was a serious offence - the time and location of the fire had the potential to have caused significant harm.

“If not for the quick response of residents and the fire service there could have been a very different outcome.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary during the early hours of the morning on Sunday or with any information which might help the investigation.
