During the 45-minute tour, guides tell the history of the administration of Warwick since Saxon times, and the construction of the present building on this central site after the Great Fire of Warwick in 1694.

Unlocking Warwick's chair, Karen Parker said: “The first tour will be on the Bank Holiday Saturday at the end of May and then there will be eight more weekend tour dates until mid-September.

"Pubs, restaurants, shops and various attractions in Warwick will have reopened on May 17, so with social distancing observed, we will be pleased to introduce the growing numbers of visitors to the rich history of Warwick on our free tours.

"We'll hope to give guests a quick look at the 18th century town council chamber and the lovely Regency Ballroom in the Court House, as well as outlining Warwick's history from its origins in Anglo-Saxon times.
