Plans have been revealed for a new Costa Coffee shop with a drive-thru in Warwick.

The proposed site would be located off Birmingham Road near the cemetery and Haywood Road.

This section of road around the site has recently undergone improvement works under the Birmingham Road and Stanks Island scheme by Warwickshire County Council.

Plans have been revealed for a new Costa Coffee shop with a drive-thru in Warwick

According to the planning statement the site 'would serve as a facility for passing trade, as a facility for the adjoining employment areas and also as a meeting point for local residents'.

The plans also say the new store ans drive-through would create around 15 jobs.

The application also states there would be around 21 parking spaces an extra two spaces for disabled parking, two spaces for electric vehicle charging and a waiting bay.

As of Thursday (May 6) more than 40 objection comments had been submitted against the plans and there was one comment in support.

Reasons for the objections included; concerns about increased traffic in the area, the impact the new site could have on independent coffee shops already in the town and concerns about noise and the impact on housing nearby.

Some residents also objected to the plans because they disliked the coffee by the chain and because there were other drive-thru coffee sites not too far away.

Currently there is a Costa Coffee drive-thru site located next to Morrisons in Old Warwick Road in Leamington.
