Meet the ten-year-old litter picker from Kenilworth who has taken matters into his own hands

A ten-year-old boy from Kenilworth has been so upset by the sight of litter in parks that he has taken the matter into his own hands.

Chester Heeley picked up a bag and started clearing up the rubbish himself at Abbey Fields - and wants to encourage others to do the same.

"I love playing at Abbey Fields," he said.

"We go to the park most weeks especially during lockdown, I always have so much fun and it has helped me to stop feeling sad that I can’t see my friends and family much.

"So I was really upset when I looked around and saw all the litter."

Chester, who goes to Warwick School, has been out a few times over the last six months but recently noticed an increase in litter so asked his family if he could take bigger bio-degradable bin bags over the Easter period - and has been joined by his brother, Morgan, 11.

"Picking litter with my brother is actually fun, people stop to talk to us and say thank you," said Chester, 10.

And the Warwick School pupil has a message to the people of Kenilworth.

"We are lucky to have such a great park, please keep it that way and put your rubbish in the bins," he said.
