The Warwick District Foodbank is continuing to help put food on the table for struggling families as we start to move out of the latest lockdown.

And the group continues to get donations from the general public.

The latest donation was a large collection of Easter eggs from housing developer David Wilson Homes which has a development at Warwick Gates.

Andy Bower, operations manager at Warwick District Foodbank, said: “There are families in Warwick district struggling to put food on the table.

"For people on low incomes, a sudden crisis - redundancy, benefit delay or even an unexpected bill - can mean going hungry.

“Every day parents skip meals to feed their children and people are forced to choose between paying the rent and eating.

"Warwick District foodbank provides emergency food and support to local people in crisis.”

Warwick and Leamington Foodbank was originally operating under the umbrella of St Paul’s Church in Leamington, while Kenilworth foodbank was a project founded by local churches in Kenilworth and community groups in 2012.

On January 1, 2017, the two joined to become Warwick District Foodbank.

During 2020, Warwick District Foodbank provided approximately 4,006 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.

Andy added: “Warwick District Foodbank is extremely grateful to David Wilson Homes for the very generous donation of Easter eggs.

"These will certainly bring some smiles and joy to the families that receive them in these very difficult times. We really appreciate the kind contribution at this time"

Dominic Harman, managing director of David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “As one of the UK’s leading developers, it is really important that we support the community in the areas in which we build.

“Warwick District Foodbank is working hard to support their clients and volunteers, and we are happy to support them with a donation of Easter eggs.
