First 'bleed control' cabinet in Leamington could prove difference between life and death for a victim of knife crime

The first 'bleed control' cabinet, which could help to save the life of a knife attack victim, has been installed in Leamington

The Change Your Life Put Down Your Knife campaign raised the funds for the cabinet, which has been placed outside the Nisa shop in High Street, Leamington.

Benjamin Spann, who leads the campaign, said: "Bleed control kits provide knife or gun attack victims the extra few minutes needed for the emergency services to arrive.

"The kits are designed to control the loss of blood until the ambulance arrives.

"I believe {the kit} is in a prime location as county lines gangs are using our train station to transport drugs from bigger towns and cities."

The anti-knife campaign group, which has been carrying out knife sweeps recently in park in the town has not received any Government funding and relies solely on donations .

Members want to raise more funds for another bleed control kit to be installed in Leamington over the next few months.

Benjmain said: "I believe you should be able to walk down the street and feel safe."
