Coventry City FC have arranged for a minute’s applause in memory of Leamington boy Rowan Fitzgerald, which will take place at their home game against Blackpool on Saturday.
Seven-year old Rowan died when a bus crashed into Sainsbury’s on Trinity Street in Coventry on Saturday, October 3.
He was making his way home with his granddad, uncle and cousin from City’s 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.
Rowan’s family have all been invited to the Ricoh Arena for the game and the club has vowed to support the family in any way possible at this time.
A club statment says: “Our thoughts and prayers are also with Rowan’s cousin who remains in Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and with the family of 70-year old Dora Hancox who was also killed.”
The club are also supporting West Midland Police’s appeal for witnesses. West Midlands Police have had a number of witnesses who have given valuable information to their enquiry, including a Shrewsbury Town fan who had attended the football match.
If you were in Coventry at around 6pm and either saw the collision or offered help to those injured West Midlands Police would urge you to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 Quoting reference 1017 4/10/15.
