Leamington Comic Con organisers will be looking for the town’s best cosplayers when the event takes place at the Assembly in Spencer Street on Saturday October 17.

Fans are being asked to get creative and come to the event dressed as their favourite superhero, villain, and anime or manga character to be in with a chance to win one of two trophies.

There are two competition categories - adults over 16 and children aged 15 or under.

Registration starts when the event opens at 10.30am, judging will be at 12.30pm and the parade and ceremony at 1.30pm.

Dan Mallier, creator of Leamington Comic Con, said: “Cosplay has become a colourful part of comic conventions, bringing a real sense of fun and atmosphere.

Last year’s entries were impressive and showed the people of Leamington have bags of imagination, creativity and talent.”

Last year’s Adult Champion Kit Summerfield, who dressed as Batman, will be a judge for the competition this time.

To promote inclusivity, Leamington Comic Con has teamed up with ICosplay, an anti-bullying campaign, to help run the competition and celebrate costume play at fan conventions.

Sarah Parker of ICosplay, said: “We work with event organisers in developing and improving the whole costuming and cosplay experience, and we’re thrilled to be coming to Leamington.

“We’ll be on the look-out for good craftsmanship and those bringing lots of spirit to their characters.”

Priority entry tickets can be bought in advance from Seismic Records at The Assembly, Spangles Candy in The Royal Priors, MG Memorabilia in Lansdowne Street or Facebook.com/LeamComicCon but people can also pay on the day.
