Thousands of people got into the festive spirit at Leamington’s Christmas Lights Switch-on event in the town centre on Sunday.
The crowd watching enjoyed hours of entertainment on the main stage in the build up to the main event with live music from artists including Shanade, Electrik Custard, White Men Can’t Funk and the Sambassadors of Groove. There was dancing from LWAD, Irish dancers and Belles Burlesque and singing from Belle Harmonie, Milverton Choir and Matt Bate. Cast members from the forthcoming Spa Centre Christmas panto Cinderella also took to the stage to delight the crowds before the switch-on at 5pm. Stalls and fair ground rides lined the Parade and there was a speech from town mayor Cllr John Knight. Outside the town hall, earlier in the evening, the Leamington Spa Rotary Club’s Tree of Light was illuminated for the first time this year as part of the club’s annual Christmas fundraising campaign. See earlier pages for details of the Tree of Light campaigns where you live.
