The lights in Warwick Road will be illuminated on Friday November 25, and High Street’s lights will be lit up a week later at the more traditional event on Friday December 2.

The Warwick Road event runs from 5 to 8pm, with the lights being switched on at 7pm by the Kenilworth mayor Cllr Richard Davies, Kenilworth Carnival Queen Laura Crawley and chair of Warwick District Council Cllr Jane Knight.

Among the entertainers will be Kenilworth’s X-Factor contestants Belle Harmonie, who reached the ‘Six Chair Challenge’ this year. They will be performing on the main stage at 6.30pm.

Other attractions include a Christmas market with charity and craft stalls, a children’s fairground and a selection of hot food and refreshments.

Certain businesses will be open late to coincide with the switch-on.

High Street’s event is also from 5 to 8pm, but the actual switch-on takes place at 6.30pm. There will be some mediaeval entertainment as part of the 750th anniversary of the Siege of Kenilworth.

Brass bands, Christmas Choirs a penny arcade, Punch and Judy and a Nativity performance will all take place before the mayor and the Carnival Queen switch on the lights.
