Resurfacing work means motorists are being urged to plan ahead this weekend.
Junction 12 at Gaydon will be completely closed from 8pm on Friday June 24 to 5am to Monday June 27 as road widening and resurfacing work is carried out.
The northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads will also be closed while the work is completed.
The junction is routinely backed up, with queues of over a mile in length forming on the hard shoulder of the M40 during morning rush hours. The planned work at the Gaydon junction aims to eliminate the queues and improve safety.
Shah Hussain, Highways England project manager said: “We’re working over the weekend to minimise disruption to motorists and to make sure that we can use the closure to make good progress on the work.”
Alternative diversion routes will be signposted while the junction is closed.
The Highways England scheme, in conjunction with the work to create a dual carriageway on the B4451 being undertaken currently by Warwickshire County Council, will greatly add to the capacity of local roads and help support the growing local economy.
