More than 500 tickets have been sold for Leamington’s first ever comic convention which takes place this month.

Leamington Comic Con will take place at the Pump Room on Saturday October 18 from 10.30pm to 4pm.

The event has been organised by self-confessed Transformers nerd Dan Mallier, who encouraged other comic fans to raise £1,800 in crowd funding in order for it to take place.

He said: “I’m blown away by the support I’ve had to get Leamington Comic Con off the ground, from donators, traders, the local press and those willing to give up their spare time to help spread the word.”

While comics and their independent publishers, writers and illustrators will be the star attraction, there is plenty more planned – a super hero / villain photo booth, face painting, caricatures, a cosplay competition, and entertainment courtesy of Star Wars costuming group the UK Garrison and Jester Styles the Magician.

Advanced tickets have now sold out but people will still be able to pay for entry on the day.
