Good Ofsted for Warwick primary

Teachers at Westgate Primary School scored well in their latest Ofsted report and were judged “good” in all areas, including leadership, management and behaviour of pupils.

Inspectors noted attendance had also improved and was now above average, and reception children were doing particularly well in learning to read and write.

Headteacher Lynne Daniels said: “We are particularly proud that Ofsted acknowledge that all our children are making good progress, despite their starting points.

“As we have a significant number of disadvantaged children it’s a real success we are able to get the provision right for everyone.”

The only occasional weaknesses noted were in how quickly teachers identified pupils’ mistakes and how well they used extra adults to support their learning.
