Dozens of objections have been received by Warwick District Council against a plan to build new homes in Common Lane Industrial Estate.
Almost 75 people have voiced their opposition to the plans to demolish a warehouse on the estate and a bungalow on Inchbrook Road to build 30 four-storey ‘live-work’ units and an office building.
One objector who lives in Inchbrook Road, Martin Corby, said the harm to the character of the area, the loss of privacy and noise levels meant the plans should not be accepted.
He said: “The size of the development and construction time will necessitate heavy construction traffic traversing Inchbrook and Highland Road, which will cause havoc to the community.”
And Daniel Bettles of Best Avenue also voiced his concerns over the loss of privacy due to the height of the planned buildings.
He said: “The proposal would lead to previously private areas being overlooked, with our house and garden being overlooked by both the new occupants and their visitors where currently there is no-one overlooking our property.
“The privacy we have enjoyed for the past seven years would be taken away.”
If the plans go ahead, the ground floors of the buildings will be used for work, while the upper three levels will be used for residential accommodation.
The site would be accessed from a new entrance created by the bungalow being demolished on Inchbrook Road, as well as from Common Lane.
