A man has been sentenced to prison after officers raided a 'sophisticated' cannabis factory Leamington.

On March 15 this year, officers executed a warrant at a premises in Clemens Street in Leamington.

Inside the premises - a former motorbike showroom – a significant number of cannabis plants in various stages of growth (with a potential value of up to £360,000) were found.

The room had a sophisticated set-up, which included the use of ultra-violet lights and the bypassing of electricity.

Eduard Elezi, 27, was found inside a room in the premises which contained bedding, a fully-stocked fridge, a phone and keys.

Elezi, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene and later charged with producing a class B drug (cannabis) and abstracting electricity.

He later pleaded guilty to the offence and appeared at Warwick Crown Court on May 6 where he was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment.

After the case, PC James Lake from Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Team said "This is a great result and once again shows that we are taking drug dealing seriously in Leamington.

"The fact that the judge has imposed a custodial sentence shows that they share our view that this kind of offending is not acceptable.

"If anyone has any information about drug production, dealing or use I would encourage them to contact us and share their concerns. I hope that this shows that we will act on any information that is given to us.
