Changes '˜will not damage Thai Festival' in Warwick

Warwick's popular Thai Festival will not be damaged by an out of town location and new entry fee, say organisers.

The annual celebration brings the sights and sounds of Bangkok to Warwick each summer.

But to accommodate growing numbers of visitors and fundraising limitations, the event will this year be run at Warwick Racecourse for the first time with a £5 entry fee.

Run by Warwick’s Rotary Club, the celebration is now in its 12th year and organisers say they are confident the changes will not affect the festival’s ability to draw in visitors from across the Midlands.

Entry is £3 in advance or £5 on the day which has drawn criticism from some keen festival-goers ahead of the popular event.

Jackie Crampton, from the charity fundraising group, said with all other events charging a small entry fee, she is confident people will still come out to show support.

She said: “We have got a new location and the entry fee, but it is only very small and the event is very popular so we are hopeful things won’t change.

“People come from across the Midlands and this is something special for Warwick.”
