Latest figures show how many people sadly died due to Covid in February - with breakdowns for all the Warwick neighbourhoods

The numbers show that both January and February were bad months - but hopefully that is already changing in March

A further 10 people have died due to Covid-19 in Warwick during February.

That figure is broadly the same as January, which recorded 11 deaths.

That means about 43 per cent of all Covid deaths in Warwick have happened during January and February.

In total, 49 people have now died in the town since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has complied the data, covering February 2021 and all the way to the start of the pandemic last year.

They state that the deaths they have recorded are where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death.

This means, of course, that many thousands of people recovered from the virus. Many had little or no symptoms - but unfortunately there are no figures for these specific categories.

Also, the rural areas saw a big drop in deaths, with some villages not recording any deaths in February (see figures below).

The figures below show the number of Covid-related deaths in February. The numbers in brackets shows what the figure was in January and the total in that area since the beginning of the pandemic.
