Proud of my town but angry at decision
Though I don’t live near the proposed site, I care about the reputation of my town and the regeneration of South Town which has long languished in the shadow of the more prosperous north. I cannot see how such a business will enhance the area for local residents or attract potential investors into it, unless they too wish to take advantage of the council’s lax attitude in order to open more sex clubs. Then South Town will truly deserve the appellation “Sleaze Town” as coined by Cllr Alan Wilkinson.
Furthermore, I am not persuaded by solicitor Ian Besant’s argument that the sex club, “ will be an expensive club with expensive wine, vodka and cocktails”, as if this validates its existence, notwithstanding that its primary function is to sell sexual services in a residential area of our town.

To blatantly disregard valid local opinion in favour of a business, which many believe will taint the area, further undermining its viability for regeneration, shows complete arrogance and indifference to the concerns of the community. - K.
