I’m a senior reporter and the lifestyle specialist for the Yorkshire Evening Post - also on the newsdesk. I joined the team in 2019 while completing an MA Journalism course at Leeds Trinity University. I was named the NCTJ’s Trainee of the Year in 2021 after completing my NQJ qualification, and had a stint as the YEP’s interim editor this year.
I grew up down south but moved up to Leeds for university nearly a decade ago and never left - I reckon I’m close to being an adopted Yorkshirewoman. I’m proud to call the city my home and to get to work in such an exciting and varied news patch. From catching up with some of the city’s biggest stars, like Tom Zanetti and Mel B, to launching a campaign on tackling knife crime as lockdown restrictions were eased, I love telling the stories that matter in Leeds.
As the YEP’s lifestyle specialist, I get to cover the city’s new openings and highlight the amazing independent businesses on our doorsteps - from fine-dining restaurants to hidden gem gift shops. I lead our Little Oliver and Barfly reviews team, as well as working with our events team on our Leeds food and drink awards, the Oliver Awards, which is always the highlight of my year. We have so many fabulous restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes and takeaways in Leeds and it’s an honour to get to shout about them.
Outside of work - when I’m not out eating and drinking in the city - I’m a keen yogi and would love to complete my yoga teacher training one day.
