Friday July 29 and Saturday July 30, Quaker Meeting House, Warwick, 7.30pm: Tell Tale Theatre present The Austerity Games, an award-winning play that was first written to mark the 2012 London Olympics and the Bicentenary of Charles Dickens’ birth. The play has been described as “A Christmas Carol meets Chariots of Fire” and is inspired by Charles Dickens and the 1948 London Olympic Games, also known as the Austerity Games. Until Sunday October 2, Compton Verney art gallery: Compton Verney is staging two new exhibitions celebrating an optimistic time of Britain’s future and laughter by the BBC. Britain in the Fifties: Design and Aspiration reflects on how design shaped people’s lives, while BBC Faces of Comedy – opening on Tuesday July 19 presents the seminal comedy faces of Joyce Grenfell, Tommy Handley, Frankie Howerd, Tony Hancock, Morecambe and Wise, and The Goons, plus stars from sitcoms. Stoneleigh Park, 11am to 3pm: Charity Dogs for Good is holding a family fun day. Pet dogs are welcome to join their owners at the event, which includes a dog show, dog agility and flyball, heel and wheel work to music, Dogs for Good’s own demonstration team, hands-on animal encounters with wild creature features, a fire and rescue service search dog and handler, falconry, a magician, face painting and more.
