Pike picks up accolade for contribution to Leamington Squash Club

Leamington Squash Club's head coach Jason Pike was crowned Club Coach of the Year at England Squash's 2016 Polar Squash Workforce Awards.

The award recognises the achievements of a coach in developing and delivering a varied club programme through high-quality coaching and playing programmes that engage with new and existing club members.

Keir Worth, England Squash chief executive officer, said: “The annual awards are our opportunity to thank our coaching and volunteer workforce and celebrate the fantastic work they do.

“They are the driving force behind getting more people on court, creating thriving squash communities and in nurturing talent and our champions of the future.”

Pike won the award for proactively running school programmes, developing the club’s junior programme, creating social squash activities and creating a vibe in the club which has helped membership grow from 360 to 460 members in two years.

He has developed a successful junior programme with two regional winners and more county closed finalists than any other club in Warwickshire.

Squash chairman Ming Lee said: “I’m delighted that Jason has been recognised for the great work he’s doing at our squash club.
