Leamington’s Olympic archer Naomi Folkard shot a new national record at the Stourbridge Company of Archers’ annual FITA 25 tournament on Sunday.

The well-attended indoor shoot at Waseley Hills High School in Rednal, involved 60 arrows shot over 25 metres at a 60cm target face.

Folkard, who has been shooting some terrific scores recently, shot 584 out of a possible 600 to surpass the previous record, held by Helen Palmer (Welbeck), by three.

Sue Davis (Redditch) was way back in second on 546.
