Warwick driver Matthew Jackson clinched the Morris Lubricants 1400 BTRDA class 1.4C championship and Super 1000 championship title with a round to spare after finishing second in class at the Trackrod Forest Stages.
The North Yorkshire- based event featured 45 competitive stage miles around challenging forestry, with Jackson conscious of the potential for mishap in his Super1000 specification Micra.
“We had a tough decision on our hands,” said Jackson. “Do we go for outright position in the rally or take a steady approach to maintain our position and seal the championship?
“It was opted to drive fast enough not to lose concentration but to keep things on the slight side of caution. It seems to have paid off.”
