Long Itchington School produced a winning double at the third race of the Mid-Warwickshire Primary Schools Cross Country League.

Persistent rain made it tough going at the Priors Field School-based course in Kenilworth, with runners having to navigate two streams and muddy farmers’ fields which left one brave soul to finish the course with only one shoe.

Margot Brown, head teacher of Priors Field, presented the certificates to the first 20 girls and boys, with Emily Lovett making it three victories from three in the girls’ event and Jack Reeve winning the boys’ race.

The final league race will be held at Priory Park, Warwick, on Saturday November 29.
