Jason Cowley made it two when left unmarked in the box to head home.

Sporting were then awarded a controversial penalty after two players tangled legs, keeper Jonathan Pigott having already claimed the ball. Liam Spink-Twin fired home from the spot to make it 3-0 at the interval.

The second half was a testof character for Racers who were without several key players.

However, with Pigott making several fine stops, they prevented any further damage.

On Saturday, Racing Club produced two contrasting halves on their way to a 4-2 win at Heather St John’s.

A lacklustre first half saw Racers come in at the break trailing 2-0 to goals from Deqwon Ebanks and Michael Gyasi.

However, the introduction of Joe Ashworth and Michael Mannion after the break transformed the visitors.

Martin Slevin tucked away a penalty before Wade Malley outmuscled a defender and shot high into the net to draw Racing Club level.

Jamie Brown raced half the length of the pitch from a Slevin ball and fired in a third before Malley slotted home the rebound after his initial shot was saved to make it 4-2 on the stroke of full-time.
