Despite a 26-12 pairs win for Di Thurlbeck and Margaret Grosvenor against Pat Bax and Yvonne Bromfield, Lillington found themselves needing to win the fours to lift the cup on points scored after defeats in both the singles and the triples.

Sue Hornsby lost 21-15 to Abbie Ward in the singles, while the triple of Pat Gagg, Grace Gallacher and Jayne Henfrey were pipped 13-12.

The four of Jenny Corn, Hazel Goodman, Pippa Mace and Jacqui Cook picked up seven shots on the third end but did not score again until the eighth end and were trailing 18-10 going into the 12th end.

However, four shots kick-started a revival and they were level pegging at 22-all going into the 21st and final end.

Three shots then gave them a 25-22 win and ensured Lillington lifted the cup by a ten-shot margin.

Meanwhile, in county action, a determined Warwickshire recorded a resounding 151-72 victory over visitors Buckinghamshire at Solihull Blossomfield.

Yvonne Bromfield (Rugby Thornfield), with Trudi Windsor (Bilton), Barbara Harsant (Solihull Municipal) and Chris Ward (Lillington) won 25-9, which was matched by Sigrid Thomas, Pat Lowe (both Rugby Thornfield), Hazel Goodman (Lillington) and Ann Harwood (Wolvey).

A slow start could not prevent a 21-11 win for Sue Hornsby, Chris Richards (Lillington), Lilian Hope (Welford) and Chris Harrison (Ambleside), while Jacqui Cook (Lillington), with Carole Cox (Snitterfield), Margaret Andrew (Entaco) and Heather Tredgold (Southam) were thankful for a 12th-end six as they won out 22-18.

Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield), Di Medhurst (Stoke), Ann Doherty (Lillington) and Joan Hall (Nuneaton) also had a 12th-end six as they completed the clean sweep with a 21-18 success.
