The Kenilworth Half Marathon was one of the 50 best races held in 2009, according to readers of Britain's most popular running magazine and website Runner's World.
It is the first time the early autumn event, hosted by Kenilworth Runners since 2001, has appeared in the prestigious list - published in the February 2010 issue of Runner's World.

Entering the list at number 45, the event was praised by the magaz
ine for 'efficient organisation, a friendly atmosphere and a scenic but undulating out-and-back course'.

In addition to pleasing the many hundreds of runners who took part, the 2009 race helped generate over £2,500 for local charities including PHAB and the Warwickshire Hospital Breast Cancer Scanner Appeal.

The 2010 race will also host the Warwickshire Half Marathon Championships.

"I am delighted to see our event make it into this exclusive list, rubbing shoulders with world famous races such as the London Marathon and the Great North Run," said Kenilworth Runners chairman Pete Bryan.

"It is a testament to the hours and hours of hard work by our club members, our committee and many local volunteers, who ensured that the event went smoothly and that runners enjoyed racing in Kenilworth and the surrounding area.

"With preparations already under way for the 2010 half marathon and further improvements to the event planned, I am confident that this year's will be even better."

Kenilworth Runners running club currently has over 140 members and is based at the Wardens Cricket Club, Glasshouse Lane.

It welcomes runners of all ages and abilities and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.
