Amanda Haslam retained her title as a record number of lady members, some of them first-time entrants, contested the coveted Kenilworth Croquet Club Ladies' Trophy at Crackley Lane on Sunday.
The tournament, played under golf croquet rules, saw some spirited competition and close matches.
At the end of the afternoon Haslam and Pauline Dennis had four wins each.
The final was another close affair, with Haslam the 7-5 final winner.
Earlier in the week Philip Wood travelled to Edgbaston to compete for the Abnalls Cup, open to all Croquet Association members handicapped five to eight. It was Wood's first tournament - he only took up the sport earlier this year - but he returned to Kenilworth with the trophy.
Four of Kenilworth's top players contested the Castle Cup. A high degree of skill was shown by all, with the outcome in dispute until the final game between Henry Fellowes and Brian Kerr.
In the end, with light fading, Fellowes emerged as the winner to retaining the cup he won in 2007.
The croquet season ends this month but anyone interested in trying the game can go to the club website or call Adrian Morris on 07845 380750.
