Saints swept aside Midland Combination newcomers GSA with a display of attacking football on Wednesday.
Torrential rain was the chief obstacle at Lye Meadow, where Southam were ahead after only two minutes. Good work down the left from Kay, Jones, Friend and Jones again carved open the home defence and set up Jim Graham for the opener.
More pressure followed but the second goal didn't come until 29 minutes, when Unitt again burst through and this time skilfully set up Friend for a calm finish.
Olly Manuel in the Saints goal had little to do in the first period but did pull off a great save from a rare home attack on 39 minutes, pushing the ball onto the bar and away for a corner.
Saints again got off to a flying start after the interval and increased the lead after 48 minutes when Danny Adams turned in a left-wing cross from McGarvey, who had burst through the home side's despairing offside trap.
Fve minutes later Unitt was on hand to apply the finish to make it 4–0.
Southam then relaxed somewhat and allowed GSA to score on 62 minutes by not reacting to the second ball from a free kick.
Their followed a dodgy five-minute spell as the home side raised their efforts but Saints then re-asserted themselves with probably the best move of the match.
Kay, McGarvey and Jim Graham were all involved, but the latter fired narrowly wide.
It was only a matter of time, however, before more goals came Southam's way. First Adams notched again in the 70th minute and then Neale Perry scored the sixth within 90 seconds of coming on as a substitute.
Manager Barry Shearsby said: "We dominated the game and played some good passing football in the conditions."
"With our first Premier Division win under our belts we can no look forward with optimism to the bank holiday weekend double-header."
"The only downside on the night was the three cheap bookings we picked up and those players will receive club fines."
