Substitute Luke Corbett scored his first Brakes goal to snatch victory in an enthralling Warwickshire derby on Tuesday.
The striker grabbed a BGB Southern Division One Midlands winner with only eight minutes left at a packed New Windmill.

Brakes keeper Richard Morris made two crucial saves, the first after just four minutes when Nuneaton heaped early pressure on their hosts, and the second on the stroke of full-time when he flew across the face of the goal to deny Derek Brown.

Nuneaton are a club rebuilding after losing most of last season's side but, on this showing, they will be among the contenders.

Ramsey opened the scoring at the far post on 37 minutes from a superb cross from the left by Rob Foster. It was a lead they just about deserved on the run of play, but Brakes could have scored themselves ten minutes earlier when Mark Bellingham's shot from wide on the left landed on top of the crossbar.

The equaliser came in the 44th minute as the referee spotted a handball by Eddie Nisevic and Mark Bellingham sent the penalty hard and low into the corner.

It was Ramsey's turn to send in a dangerous cross from the left just after the re-start but, this time, Guy Sanders was on hand to clear.

The impressive Jai Stanley went down in the penalty area after collecting a cross from Bellingham, but the referee waved away appeals for a second spot kick.

Nuneaton keeper Darren Acton denied Bellingham a second goal in the 71st and, with Jamie Towers getting stronger as the match progressed, Brakes were looking more and more dangerous.

It was no surprise when they took the lead with a thunderous shot from Luke Corbett that gave Acton no chance.

Corbett nearly had a second a minute later, but this time his effort went just wide.

Mykel Beckley was introduced alongside Corbett to give speed to the attack and test the Nuneaton defence, but it was the third substitute striker, Shay Morgan, who could have got on the scoresheet, latching onto a long kick from Morris, only to put his header straight at Acton.

The back-three of Sanders, Martin Hier and Adam Cooper worked tirelessly all match, as did Liam Reynolds in midfield.

Manager Jason Cadden said afterwards "I was pleased with the workrate from everyone and we are getting stronger each time. Marcus Jackson worked his socks off and it was a great strike by Luke to win what turned out to be a typically close local derby."

Brakes: Richard Morris, Jamie Towers, Martin Hier, Adam Cooper, Guy Sanders (capt], Liam Reynolds (Shay Morgan 83), Marcus Jackson, Jai Stanley (Luke Corbett 74), Mark Bellingham (Mykel Beckley 77). Subs not used: Ryan Parisi, Richard Anstiss.
