Two Luke Corbett goals secured Leamington an eighth straight Southern League win at the New Windmill on Saturday.
The striker grabbed his eighth and ninth goals of the season to extend his side's remarkable run - they are the only club in the country at steps one to four of the non-league pyramid with a 100 per cent record.

And the result, in the only BGB Southern League Division One Midlands match of the day, put Jason Cadden's men eight points clear at the top.

Corbett received the plaudits, but the result was built on the efforts of centre-backs Martin Hier, Guy Sanders and Adam Cooper. Hier in particular gave his all and carried on after treatment for a head injury.

Chesham, fresh from an FA Cup win at Blue Square South side Weston-Super-Mare, will consider themselves unlucky not to claim a point.

The game was better than the strong wind suggested it might be. Corbett put Brakes ahead from the first attacking move of note, side-footing a Mark Bellingham cross past keeper Bobby Smith following a left-sided James Husband throw-in.

Brakes relied heavily on their defence as Chesham pressed. The visitors had more of the midfield play than many other visitors to Harbury Lane manage, although they rarely broke through to directly threaten Richard Morris's goal.

Trying again in the second half, Chesham thought they had equalised when Darrell Cox headed in a corner. The referee spotted a push on Morris and ruled out the effort, upsetting a vocal band of travelling fans.

Danny Talbot had put a shot wide just before that, but it was starting to look like Leamington's day.

That impression was confirmed when Cox was red-carded, apparently for raising his hands to Morris, as tempers flared.

Still, the result wasn't a done deal until the 84th minute. The fierceness of Corbett's celebrations confirmed that - he charged towards the fans massed at the Harbury Lane end after slamming a Jamie Towers cross into the net.

Gold and black balloons were released at half-time to mark the second anniversary of the death of supporter Matt Blunt. Another fan, Daniel Kelly, was presented with a scarf and a life membership of the supporters' club to mark his recovery from illness.

The Leamington FC Supporters' Club is running coaches to the next three games, all away, at Arlesey Town tomorrow, Glapwell on October 18 (FA Trophy) and AFC Sudbury on October 25. Call Lee Matthews on 778126.
