Leamington must do it all again next year after losing the Southern League play-off final in front of a record New Windmill crowd on Saturday.
Leon Broadhurst's goal four minutes from the end of extra time earned the Glassboys a place in the Premier Division after an absorbing match dominated for long periods by the home side.
But Brakes, beaten three times previously by the same side this season, couldn't end the jinx.
Leamington had the better of the early skirmishes and took a deserved lead on 17 minutes. Ben Mackey scored at the second attempt after his penalty was kept out by the feet of keeper Lewis Solley, who had brought down Justin Marsden.
Three minutes later Stourbridge were level. Nathan Bennett volleyed across Richard Morris after Andy Wright's shot was blocked by the defence.
Buoyed up by this, the visitors had probably their best spell of possession. They didn't muster too many chances though and as the interval approached Brakes were in the ascendancy again.
Scott Hadland tried his luck from distance, Liam Reynolds headed just wide and Mackey just failed to connect with a fine cross from Marsden, who was having perhaps his best game for Leamington.
Jason Cadden's men kept up the pressure throughout the second half. It was a dominant performance, missing only the goal it deserved.
Marsden saw another chance go begging after a skillful run from Marcus Jackson set him up, Mackey fired over the crossbar and James Husband shot well side when he might have done better.
Jamie Towers thought he'd won the tie four minutes from time when he beat Solly from a Jackson cross. The celebrations hardly had chance to start before the offside flag was spotted.
Still Brakes were the better side. Marsden and Husband both had further chances as their side pressed and pressed.
The short break before extra time allowed Stourbridge time to regroup. Brakes were never quite as fluent in the added 30 minutes, although the visitors needed a superb double save from Solly to deny substitute Josh Blake.
Then came the killer blow. Broadhurst was set up by Sam Rock down the inside left channel and the midfielder unleashed an unstoppable low 20-yarder beyond the helpless Morris.
Brakes: Richard Morris, Jamie Towers (Ryan Parisi 104), Arron Parkinson (capt], Adam Cooper, Guy Sanders, Liam Reynolds, Scott Hadland, James Husband, Justin Marsden, Ben Mackey (Josh Blake 97), Marcus Jackson. Subs not used: Shay Morgan, Martin Thompson, Andy Harper.
