Rhod Gilbert - Who's Eaten Gilbert's Grape, Warwick Arts Centre, January 27
Brilliant. Rhod Gilbert made audiences laugh out loud with his tales and anecdotes comparing his life as a single man to that of Johnny Depp's character in the film What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
Rhod joked about previous gigs and press coverage as well as telling tales of growing up in a small Welsh town and turning 40. Funny and entertaining, Gilbert's natural talent shone through as he regularly ventured into unscripted banter with audience members and began telling additional gags. This was amusing but extended the show by an hour meaning the performer had to schedule an interval. Still, it made the tickets even better value. A great way to end the weekend.
