Villagers are to be kept waiting to find out if the first stages of a windfarm project near their homes will go ahead.
Energy company Broadview submitted an application to put up a 60m high metereological mast to test wind speeds on farmland near Bishops Itchington and Knightcote.

Stratford District Council's planning committee was due to decide whether to grant p
ermission for the mast on Wednesday.

But the matter was deferred because it clashed with a community forum in Southam, meaning many residents and councillors would have been forced to choose between the two.

A decision about the mast will be made at the committee's next meeting at the district council's headquarters at Elizabeth House in Church Street, Stratford, on Wednesday November 25 at 6pm.

The district council has received around 170 letters objecting to the proposal from residents in the area who fear that granting permission for the mast will inevitably lead to a windfarm being accepted.

One of the letters was from Stratford MP John Maples, who said: "To my mind, saying yes to the mast is a yes vote for the wind farm."

Broadview representatives have indicated that, should the project go ahead, six turbines will be built on the site, known as Starbold.
