MORE eight to 11-year-olds are needed to join the Warwick Show Band, the American High School Musical style performers who recently competed in the national championships.

Members of the senior marching divison, who danced and played classics like Fascinating Rhythm, finished runners-up in the British Young Band Association championships held in Hednesford. Staffordshire.

Meanwhile, those in the junior division, pictured above, performed around a theme of Disney Princesses. It was their first attempt at the championships and were rewarded with a very creditable third place.

Band director Barbara Leach said: “All the girls have done so well this year to reach the championships and then be placed so highly.

“It’s a reflection on their hard work and dedication - a real testament to what young people can achieve. Now we would like to attract a few more youngsters to learn how to play trumpets, bass, saxaphones - all instruments we can loan to them - or they can bring along their own flutes or clarinets.

“Alternatively, they can choose to learn some American High School style dance steps - no previous experience required.”
