Warwick teacher is twilight walking in town to raise funds for tumour charity

Caty Oates, who works at Warwick School, will join others of all ages affected by brain tumours on The Twilight Walk - organised by The Brain Tumour Charity - on September 21.

Mrs Oates’s sister Ann Woodham died in February, just under two and a half years after she was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant brain tumour.

She was initially told that she would live for only a year.

The family has since set up the Ann Woodham Fund in her memory to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity.

The Twilight Walk route, taking in historic Warwick landmarks including the castle, holds poignant memories for Mrs Oates.

It winds past the Lord Leycester Hospital where Mrs Woodham and her husband Martin were married and other spots which she visited regularly.

Mrs Oates said: “Ann was unbelievably strong throughout. She stayed very positive but she never once failed to talk about what the prognosis was.

“She was too young to die and we are keen to help raise money to fund further research into brain tumours.”

Mrs Oates will be joined on The Twilight Walk on September 21 by her children as well as Martin and other family members and friends.

There is no age limit for participants.
