Warwick Sea Scouts were on a clean up mission in St Nicholas Park with annual litter picking efforts boosted in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Eager young Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all got out on Sunday to clear a stretch of the Avon through the park where they meet each week.

While some scoured the grass for litter, others took to boats to clear rubbish from the edge of the river which leaders said seemed “particularly bad” after flooding.

After a day of hard work, teams had collected a “huge pile” of bin bags, and hauled two shopping trolleys from the water.

The team is continuing to fundraise for a new hut in the park. Email the New Hut Appeal team, or visit the website to find out more.
