Former Warwick mayor Cllr Trudy Offer is to stand down from her seat on the town council because she has applied and been accepted for a new job as assistant to Warwick town clerk, Derek Maudlin.

The Conservative councllor served as mayor in 2011 and 2012.

Because of her connection with the council, people from outside organisations were asked to form part of the interview panel.

It is not expected her departure will trigger a by-election as it is too close to next year’s elections.
