Austin Sevens lined up for 90th anniversary meeting

MORE than 500 Austin Seven vintage cars were lined up in the grounds of Warwick School over the weekend as fans from all over the country descended to celebrate the marque’s 90th anniversary.

The car designed by Herbert Austin and Stanley Edge and first promoted as the “motor for the millions” was first offered at a low cost in 1922 and went on to revive the fortunes of the Austin Motor Company as 400,000 were built both in this country and under licence abroad up until 1939.
