Teachers ask pupils: Who do you think you were?

THE importance of children taking “ownership” of the past was the main theme of a history day at a Warwick school last week.
Teachers arrived at Aylesford School dressed as famous, and in at least one case infamous, characters to bring the subject to life.
But Dr David Woodcraft, head of the history department, said: “The past is not just about the great and the good but about us - we all should be looking at it and taking responsibility - ownership - for life and how the past affects us.
“The day was led by Kevin Hicks of the History Squad who wore his normal clothes in the morning but later returned dressed as an SS officer to be interrogated by A level students about life in Nazi Germany.
