Myton School pupil Lily Crockford from Warwick Gates and Kings High pupil Katie Burrows from Ufton have been selected from 2,000 children to take part in The Secret Garden at the Ambassador Theatre from July 27 to August 31.

The girls, who will both form part of the ensemble, have already started rehearsals in London.

They have both been keen performers from a young age and became friends through attending the Pauline Quirke Academy in Warwick and the Spa Theatre Group and Fiery Feet Dance Studios in Leamington.

Lily’s mum Fiona Crockton said: “They had to prepare a song and read from a script for a first audition. They were both recalled back for second round, which was based purely on how they could dance and then the third and final audition was a combination of singing and a more technical dance audition.

“Lily has been dancing since the age of three and took up acting and singing at the age of six. She hopes to have a career in dance and musical theatre.”

Lily said: “It’s all I have ever wanted to do - and now I am getting the chance to experience performing in a West End Theatre. I can’t wait.”

Katie, who took up dancing at the age of six and acting and singing two years later, is hoping that this experience might be the break she needs to start a career in musical theatre, adding: “My dream is to play Fanny Brice in Funny Girl in the West End or Broadway.”
