Some 46 special constables took part in policing activity across the county, including speed checks at six locations in Leamington and Kenilworth, during which 28 drivers were stopped in relation to speeding offences.

Licensing checks were also carried out at eight pubs, bars and restaurants in the towns, while the specials also helped officers in responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.

The volunteer support took place as part of the national Specials’ Weekend in efforts to publicise the supportive role that they can play.

Warwickshire’s Specials Chief Officer Glyn Gardner said: “Warwickshire specials have patrolled every borough and district in the county over the weekend, supporting local policing priorities and helping to prevent and detect crime and anti-social behaviour. I am proud of what has been achieved.”
