The man police are searching for in and around the River Leam in Leamington has been named by friends as 26-year-old Polish national Pawel Przydalski
His close friend Thomas Glicza said Mr Przydalski, who lives in the Clemens Street area of Leamington, was reported missing at about 11pm on Saturday night.
He is described as about 185cm in height with dark blond hair, green eyes and with a muscular physique.
His main distinguishing features include a tattoo of the word “freedom” on his neck and another of a dragon on his left hand.
On the day he went missing he was dressed in red T-shirt, with “Rydel House” written on it in white letters, and jeans.
He was last seen near Jephson Gardens.
A search is under way for Mr Przydalski, who is believed to have fallen into the River Leam. A man was seen falling from the York Road foot bridge on Saturday at about 9.22pm and was seen struggling in the current. An immediate search and rescue operation was launched involving the police and fire service but, unfortunately, he could not be located.
The search resumed at first light on Sunday with assistance from specialist search officers and has continued today (Monday), although police say they cannot rule out the possibility that Mr.Przydalski managed to escape from the river.
The investigation is concentrating on the section of river from the York Road bridge downstream to the Prince’s Drive bridge. Although there are some shallow areas the water is deep in places with strong currents.
