Fire crews rescue person trapped in vehicle near junction 15 on the M40

Fire crews rescued a person trapped inside a vehicle after a collision near junction 15 on the M40 last night (Tuesday).

Warwickshire Fire Service was alerted to a road traffic collision, which left with a person trapped near to junction 15 on the M40 and the A46 at 20.39pm.

Two fire appliances from Leamington were sent to the scene.

On arrival the crews confirmed that there was one vehicle on the road with one person physically trapped within a vehicle.

The crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty.

Police and an ambulance were also called to the scene.

A Spokesperson from the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to an RTC near the A46 and B4463 heading towards Norton Lindsey. A single van was involved. One man was trapped and fire crews were called. A man in his 50s had serious head injuries and was immobilised and given pain relief and taken to the trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
