The Alice in Wonderland-themed event, which took place on July 17, featured a wide variety of stalls, games, pony rides and the chance to play croquet, while a bottle tombola raised more than £2,300.

People were also invited to create their own Mad Hatter’s hat and an auction run by Rob Ripley from John Taylor funeral directors in Leamington raised around £2,700 and a barbecue supported by the Warwick Avon Rotary Club raised £1,221.

Warwickshire dance group Fit 2 Dance opened the fete with a dance routine put together by their teacher, Liz England, and local jazz band, Loco Mundo, who serenaded the crowd with an hour-long jazz set.

Myton’s events manager Sarah Stallard said: “We were thrilled to see so many people come along to enjoy this year’s summer fete. We couldn’t have hosted this year’s event without the help and support from the local community including local businesses, Rotary groups and volunteers.

“Our patients also got involved and helped make decorations for the garden on the days leading up to the event. It was a fantastic day and great to see so many people enjoying themselves, especially those who fully embraced this year’s theme by dressing up for the occasion. If anyone has any ideas for a theme for next year’s event we would love to hear from you!”
